Sri Vyasaraja Matha is popularly known as Munitraya (मुनित्रय) Matha — 'the triad of sages', one of the premier Dvaita Vedanta monasteries (matha) descending from Hamsanamaka Bhagavanta, followed by Sanakadi Galu, Durvasaru, Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya (incarnation of Sri Vayu), Sri Jayatirtha through Sri Rajendratirtha. श्री मध्वः कल्पवृक्शश्च जयार्यः कामधुक् स्मृतः | चिन्तामणिस्तु व्यासार्यः मुनित्रयमुदाहृतम् || ಶ್ರೀ ಮಧ್ವಃ ಕಲ್ಪವೃಕ್ಶಶ್ಚ ಜಯಾರ್ಯಃ ಕಾಮಧುಕ್ ಸ್ಮೃತಃ | ಚಿಂತಾಮಣಿಸ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಸಾರ್ಯಃ ಮುನಿತ್ರಯಮುದಾಹೃತಂ || śrī madhvaḥ kalpavṛkśaśca jayāryaḥ kāmadhuk smṛtaḥ | cintāmaṇistu vyāsāryaḥ munitrayamudāhṛtam || Sri Vyasaraja Matha is uniquely identified with its contribution towards various scholarly compositions on Dvaita philosophy based on Vedic science as well as service to the nation and society.

Thirty-seven compositions are attributed to Sri Madhvacharya, including commentary for the Brahma Sutra written by Sri Vedavyasaru. Sri Padmanabhatirtha followed by Sri Jayatirtha wrote interpretations to Sri Madhvacharya's works. The exposition of Dvaita philosophy continued through the illustrious and unassailable Sri Vyasaraja whose masterworks namely Tatparya Chandrika, Nyayamruta and Tarkatandava, have been considered as building blocks of Dvaita philosophy. The scholarly tradition in Sri Vyasaraja Matha initiated by ascetics like Sri Padmanabhatirtha, Sri Naraharitirtha, Sri Madhavatirtha, Sri Akshobhyatirtha, Sri Jayatirtha, Sri Vidyadirajatirtha, Sri Rajendratirtha, Sri Purushottamatirtha, Sri Brahmanyatirtha and was continued by Sri Vyasatirtha, Sri Lakshmikanta tirtha, Sri Kambalur Ramachandratirtha, Sri Sheshachandrikacharya, Sri Bhashyadipikacharya and Sri Vidyaratnakaratirtha. Sri Matha has branches located at various parts of the country and is continuing its religious and societal service under the guidance of current head Sri 1008 Sri Vidyashrishatirtha.

Sri Vidyashrishatirtha has established Sri Vyasatirtha Vidyapitha, at Mysuru which is engaged in delivering free education and stay for students interested in learning Dvaita philosophy and Vedic sciences.

Sri Vidyashrishatirtha has also established Sri Vyasatirtha Research Foundation. Many publications have come out from Sri Vyasatirtha Research Foundation.

In his Purvashrama, Sri Vidyashreesha Tirtha was known as Prof. D. Prahladachar and was born in 1940, in Bellary, Karnataka. His early education was in the traditional Gurukula system with the renowned scholars H H Sri Vidyamanya Tirtha Swamiji of Bhandarakeri Matha and Sri Vishvesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawara Matha, Udupi. He has specialized in Navya-nyaya, Sahitya and Dvaita Vedanta.
