His Holiness Sri Vidyashreesha teertha Sripadangalavaru, the pontiff of Vyasaraja Matha, visited the historic site of Vyasa Samudra—the sacred tapobhumi of Sri Vyasaraja—on Tuesday, 24-03-2026.
On this occasion, he first offered Sansthana Pooja at the temple of Gopalakrishna, which was originally consecrated by Sri Vyasaraja.
Sri Vyasaraja is believed to have stayed at this place near Kandakur for 12 years, during which he constructed a massive dam across the Papaghni River. It has now been 500 years since this remarkable achievement.
With the resolve to celebrate the 500-year (Panchashatamanotsava) in the coming days, Sripadangalavaru has envisioned several initiatives, including:

Development of the reservoir (Vyasa Samudra)
This day marked the first step toward these grand plans.
