This noble initiative has been undertaken under the blessings and guidance of His Holiness Sri Vidyashreesha Tirtha Sripadangalavaru, Peethadhipathi of Sri Vyasaraja Matha.
Vyasa Samudra is the sacred land where Sri Vyasa Tirtha (Sri Vyasaraja) spent twelve precious years of his life in tapas, spirituality, learning and service to society.
This is not merely a place; it is a witness to the penance of a great saint, a centre of devotion, a living page of history and a priceless treasure of our Sanatana heritage.
The historic Vyasa Samudra dam, with a legacy of nearly 500 years, has stored the waters of the Papaghni River and served generations of farmers and communities through its irrigation system. Every stone of this historic structure bears the story of the vision, dedication and devotion of our ancestors.
This sacred land continues to preserve the spiritual legacy of Sri Vyasaraja, the glory of the ancient Agrahara, the history associated with Sri Krishnadevaraya and the devotional tradition of Sri Kanakadasa.
🛕 AS PART OF THE PANCHASHATAMANOTSAVA
On the occasion of the 500th-year Panchashatamanotsava of Vyasa Samudra, several important works are being undertaken for the revival and comprehensive development of this sacred heritage site:
• Improvement and proper development of roads and connectivity leading to Vyasa Samudra
• Conservation and renovation of the historic Vyasa Samudra dam
• Renovation of Sri Anjaneya Temple
• Renovation of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple
• Development of Sri Gopalakrishna Temple
• Development of the Anjaneya temple
• Creation of a special island commemorating Sri Vyasaraja, Sri Krishnadevaraya and Sri Kanakadasa, with representative statues and memorials
• Construction of essential facilities for pilgrims
• Organisation of religious, Vedic, cultural and educational programmes
• Preservation of the historical and spiritual heritage of Vyasa Samudra
• Construction of a large and well-equipped Goshala for the protection, care and service of cows
The estimated cost of this comprehensive development and revival project is approximately ₹50 crore.
This important initiative has been undertaken by Sri Vyasaraja Matha under the blessings and guidance of His Holiness Sri Vidyashreesha Tirtha Sripadangalavaru, Peethadhipathi of Sri Vyasaraja Matha.
This is not merely the renovation of temples.
It is not merely the preservation of a historic dam.
It is not merely the development of a place.
It is a Mahayajna to preserve the sacred Tapobhumi of Sri Vyasaraja.
It is a sacred responsibility to pass on to future generations the historical heritage entrusted to us by our ancestors.
It is a noble endeavour that brings together Dharma, devotion, culture and service to society.
The Goshala being established as part of this initiative will serve as a sacred centre for the protection and service of Gomata and for preserving the compassionate tradition of Sanatana Dharma.
